The goal of the project is to enliven Mätäsvaara, a forgotten mining village in Eastern Finland, and save it’s architectural gem, Type A houses designed by Alvar Aalto’s office in the 1940’s. The project consists of regional vision, renovation guidelines for the Type A house and an additional building, a meditation hub. In the vision, Mätäsvaara will be marketed for visitors as a place combining best things in Finland: nature, peace, pure food and timeless design. Together with Soile Lehtinen.
